IL GRUPPO GRIMALDI Fondato nel 1946 dai fratelli Grimaldi, il GRUPPO GRIMALDI, inizia le sue attività nel settore del trasporto merci con le navi Liberty, acquisite dalla flotta statunitense alla fine della seconda guerra mondiale, ed in seguito nel trasporto passeggeri, con i grandi flussi migratori post-bellici. Nel 1969, il Gruppo dà l’avvio ad un collegamento regolare tra l’Italia e l’Inghilterra per il trasporto di autovetture Fiat destinate al mercato britannico. Il Gruppo conquista rapidamente la fiducia dei maggiori costruttori automobilistici mondiali i quali affidano il trasporto verso il Mediterraneo delle auto prodotte in Nord Europa. Il raggio d’azione dei servizi offerti si allarga rapidamente al di là dei confini originari e gli attuali collegamenti marittimi operati dal Gruppo servono oltre 100 porti in 40 paesi del Mediterraneo, Nord Europa, Africa Occidentale, Nord e Sud America. Oggi il Gruppo trasporta via mare circa 1.8 milioni di autovetture l’anno, circa 500.000 TIR e container ed oltre 300.000 passeggeri ed è considerato leader nel settore del trasporto marittimo di automobili e altri carichi rotabili (ro/ro), con una delle maggiori flotte mondiali di navi roro/multipurpose e car carrier. L’attuale flotta è composta da oltre 60 navi, 30 delle quali costruite negli ultimi sette anni (media di età inferiore ai 4 anni). Altre 12 navi ro/ro multipurpose, car carrier, pax ferry e cruise ferry sono state ordinate e la loro consegna è prevista per il 2007-2008. Il personale di bordo e di terra supera le 5.000 unità con uffici in Europa, Africa, Nord e Sud America. Il Gruppo ha recentemente acquistato il 35,4% del pacchetto azionario di Finnlines, il Gruppo Finlandese che opera una flotta di oltre 70 navi ro/ro e pax/ferry nel Mar Baltico ed il Nord Europa. Consapevole che il trasporto marittimo è solo un anello della ben più complessa e articolata catena logistica, negli ultimi anni il GRUPPO GRIMALDI ha dato via ad un piano d’espansione mirato ad integrare verticalmente i servizi logistici offerti seguendo il concetto "door-to-door". Sono così stati creati terminal portuali (Anversa, Cork, Esbjerg, Lagos, Monfalcone, Palermo, Salerno, Setúbal e Valencia) con una superficie totale di oltre 1,9 milioni di m2 (oltre all’acquisizione del porto svedese di Wallhamn), centri di stoccaggio attrezzati per le operazioni di pre-consegna delle autovetture, e società di trasporto in vari paesi Europei e Mediterranei. Negli ultimi anni il GRUPPO GRIMALDI ha investito anche nello sviluppo delle Autostrade del Mare con l’introduzione di nuove e moderne navi ro/ro e pax-ferry. Attualmente la rete di Autostrade del Mare del Gruppo collega regolarmente l’Italia (Catania, Civitavecchia, Genova, Livorno, Salerno, Palermo) alla Spagna (Barcellona, Valencia), alla Francia (Tolone) tramite Grimaldi & Louis Dreyfus Lines, a Malta e alla Tunisia per il trasporto di trailer, autovetture e passeggeri. La qualità dei servizi offerti dal GRUPPO GRIMALDI è stata più volte premiata. Tra i vari riconoscimenti spiccano quello di “Fornitore dell’Anno” dalla General Motors per il 2000, 2001, 2003, 2004 e 2005, il Premio “Land Rover Best Supplier of the Year 2003”, il Premio “Qualitas 2003” di Fiat Auto, il “Q1 award” dalla Ford Motor Company dal 1999 al 2005. Infine, il GRUPPO GRIMALDI è la prima compagnia di navigazione italiana ad aver ottenuto il certificato di qualità ISO 9002 ed il certificato ISO 14001 (Ambiente). ___________________________________________ THE GRIMALDI GROUP Founded in 1946 by the Grimaldi brothers, the GRIMALDI GROUP first started its shipping activities with the “Liberty” vessels purchased from the US Fleet at the end of the Second World War and afterwards with the transport of passengers due to the increasing post-war migration flows. The expansion of GRIMALDI GROUP (Naples) in the Mediterranean Sea began in 1969 when it started a regular service between Italy and England, transporting Fiat cars to the British market. The Group rapidly gained the trust of other major car manufacturers who chose Grimaldi’s vessels to transport their production from North Europe to various Mediterranean countries. Throughout the years the Group rapidly developed and now serves more than 100 ports in 40 countries in the Mediterranean Sea, North Europe, West Africa, North America (through the ownership of Atlantic Container Line) and South America. Currently the Group transports over 1.8 million cars and 500,000 trucks and containers and more than 300,000 passengers yearly. With its modern fleet (the average age being less than 4 years) of over 60 ro/ro multipurpose vessels, car carriers and ferries, 30 of which were built in the last 7 years, the Group is a leader in the maritime transport of rolling equipment. Another 12 vessels (ro/ro multipurpose, car carriers, ro/pax ferries and cruise ferries) are under construction and are due to be delivered in 2007-2008. The shore personnel and crew exceeds 5,000 throughout Europe, Africa, North and South America. The Group has recently purchased 35,4% of Finnlines stakes, the Finnish Group which runs a fleet of over 70 ro/ro multipurpose and ro/pax vessels in the Baltic Sea and in the North of Europe. Conscious that maritime transport is only a ring of the more complex logistics chain GRIMALDI GROUP (Naples) has recently evolved to become a multimodal transport operator offering “door-to-door” logistics services. For this purpose, it currently operates, together with strategic partners, car and container terminals (totalling 1.9 million sq. metres) in the Mediterranean Sea, North Europe and Africa: in Salerno, Palermo, Monfalcone (Italy), Alexandria (Egypt), Valencia (Spain), Cork (Ireland), Antwerp (Belgium), Esbjerg (Denmark), besides the acquisition of the Swedish Port of Wallhamn, and eventually Lagos (Nigeria), as well as storage areas equipped with pre-delivery inspection centres for vehicles and transport companies in several European and Mediterranean countries. In the last years the Group has also invested in the development of the Motorways of the Sea in the Mediterranean introducing new and modern ro-pax ferries. Currently the Group’s short sea network covers Italy (Catania, Civitavecchia, Genova, Livorno, Salerno, Palermo), Spain (Barcelona, Valencia), France (Toulon) through Grimaldi & Louis Dreyfus Lines, Malta, Tunisia (Tunis) and Libya (Tripoli) for the transport of trailers, cars and passengers.
