GALASSIA
GUTENBERG: DIVENTA PERMANENTE SEZIONE MEDITERRANEA
(ANSAMED) - NAPOLI, 1 MAR - La sezione Mediterranea di Galassia
Gutenberg diventa permanente.
Durante i
dell'Associazione Galassia Gutenberg.
dell'impresa editoriale e culturale.
regione". Soddisfacente per gli organizzatori il bilancio
finale. Sostanzialmente invariato l'afflusso dei visitatori rispetto
all'edizione 2004, circa 70mila, compreso l'ampio settore
scolastico(25mila presenze).
autori arabi e nordafricani. (ANSAMED)

GALASSIA
GUTENBERG: MEDITERRANEAN SECTION BECOMES PERMANENT
(ANSAMED) - NAPLES, MARCH 1 - The Mediterranean section of the
Galassia Gutenberg will become permanent. The XVI edition, which
this year attracted some 70thousand visitors from all over the South,
has ended but the Mediterranean theme will remain at the center of
the main book and multimedia fair in southern Italy, since this year
organized in cooperation with the Mediterranean Laboratory
Foundation and the Ansamed news agency. 'Galassia 'Mediterraneà
will promote authors and publishers from the Mediterranean area,
from southern Italy to the main publishers of the northern and
southern shores. It will moreover promote exchanges and cooperation
with the main fairs in the Mediterranean, from the Book Fairs in
Jerusalem and Alexandria to Book Expos in Cairo and Beirut. During
the four-day event, journalists, culture operators and writers from
several countries in the Mediterranean discussed the great themes of
freedom of the press, censure, reciprocal knowledge of cultural
contexts and the condition of women in Islam, as well as exchanges
bewteen universities in Mediterranan countries. "Naples, in
this edition of the Galassia Gutenberg, confirmed its call as a
meeting point of different cultures in the Mediterranean",
stressed Franco Liguori, president of the 'Associazione Galassia
Gutenberg'. "The interest for writers and leading
representatives of the Arab world and countries on the southern
shores at the event confirms that this theme is not only extremely
important in the South, but can also represent an occasion for the
development and growth of the publishing and cultural industry.
Galassia Mediterranea is most certainly an ambitious project -
continued Liguori - but we hope that it will always be supported by
institutions and professions, starting from our region".
Organizers were satisfied with the event's success. The number of
visitors in 2005 was approximately the same as last year, some
70thousand, including students (25thousand). Some of last year's
exhibitors were not present at the sixteenth edition, though new
publishers, including small publishing houses specialized in Arab
and North African authors, were in Naples for the first time this
year. (ANSAMED).
