THE FORUM CIVILE EUROMED. OBJECTIVES AND MEANS FOR THE EURO-MEDITERRANEAN PARTNERSHIP. SESSION 3 TRAFFIC AND TRANSPORTATION
Proceedings of the II International Meeting Forum Civile Euromed, Mostra d’Oltremare, Centro Congressi Mediterraneo. Naples, 12th – 13th - 14th December 1997. VV.AA. Edizioni Magma– FLM Napoli 1998 (It) Format 17 x 24 – pp 305 – ISBN 88 – 8127 – 0951

The third session of the II Forum Civile Euromed, dealing with traffic and transportation in the Mediterranean, reaffirmed the fundamental role of the Mediterranean as « Gate of Europe » towards the Middle East and the Far East. Among the most interesting proposals it is worth mentioning the following: setting up of a Mediterranean inter-port telematic network making compatible the different systems currently existing ; setting up of an international Mediterranean school coordinating the professional training of experts in transportation and international trade; planning for developing, throughout the Mediterranean, « feeder » and coasting services, as well as the new « ferry-cruises », improving the quality of maritime supply and port infrastructures.
