FORUM CIVILE EUROMED
VALENCIA 2002

VV.AA. Fundaciò de la Solidaritat i el Voluntariat de la Comunitat Valenciana Editions, Valencia march 2003 ( fr/en.) format 19x27 – pp. 324;

On 12,13 and 14 April 2002 the Euro-Med Civil Forum 2002 took place in Valencia with over 400 participants from 30 different European countries and partners from the so-called “Barcelona Process”. In the organising the Forum, the Foundation for Solidarity and Voluntary Work of the Valencian Community, together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and with the support of the European Commission, pledged once again to provide society with an independent and effective instrument for debate and dialogue with which to work towards peace and solidarity in a region undergoing constant upheaval.
The basis for debate was provided by a very specific region: the Mediterranean, which possesses exceptional political, cultural, religious and economic cross currents.
Many initiatives have been founded on the concept of the Mediterranean and the Euro-Med Civil Forum is the primary initiative that, based on civil society, embraces a capacity for dialogue and solidarity which is spread by the associations, entities and movements that work in direct contact with the men and women who inhabit both shores of a sea that the Romans named nostrum and which, today, has lost that exclusive tag to become a sea open to culture and balanced development.
