CINEMAMED
THE CINEMA ACCORDING TO SALAH ABOU SEIF

Supported by a remarkable and often courageous production, both from the artistic and above all political point of view, Cinemamed, a project promoted by the Fondazione Laboratorio Mediterraneo and by partners bodies from the Euro-Mediterranean countries – including the Film Library of the Municipality of Bologna and Napoli Film Festival - presents this year – after the Festival of the Cinema of Arab Mediterranean Countries held in the years 2000 and 2002 in 8 Euro-Mediterranean towns – an integral retrospective of the director Salah Abou Seif, the undiscussed father of the Egyptian cinema.

By the restoration, reproduction and circulation of the films of the author (carried out thanks to the collaboration between the European and Arab-Mediterranean Film Libraries) the work by Salah Abou Seif can be handed down to the future generation of spectators and of scholars at last in an organic and final form.

Cinemamed project is coordinated by the Fondazione Laboratorio Mediterraneo (a body instituted in 1994 with the aim to promote the Euro-Mediterranean cultural and scientific partnership) and is co-financed by the Euromed Audiovisuel Programme of the European Union.
The catalogue of Salah Abou Seif was edited by Luisa Ceretto.
