PREMIO MEDITERRANEO ISTITUZIONI 2007
(ANSAmed) - NAPOLI, 29 MAR - E´ stato assegnato al Presidente
dell´Assemblea Parlamentare del Consiglio d´Europa René Van der
Linden il Premio Mediterraneo Istituzioni 2007. Van der Linden si è
aggiudicato il premio "per aver contribuito con la sua azione
politica a diffondere i valori del dialogo nell´area del Grande
Mediterraneo. Prima come Presidente del Gruppo del Partito Popolare
Europeo e poi quale Presidente dell´Assemblea Parlamentare del
Consiglio d´Europa ha dato un decisivo impulso alla politica
euromediterranea specialmente in difesa dei diritti umani, della
democrazia e dell´eguaglianza di genere", hanno spiegato alla
Fondazione Mediterraneo, che ha istituito il premio nel 1997. Van
der Linden riceverà domani a Napoli in una cerimonia che si terrà
nella sede della Fondazione alle 17.30. Negli anni scorsi il Premio
Mediterraneo Istituzioni è stato assegnato, tra gli altri, al primo
ministro turco Recep Tayyp Erdogan e al presidente della Regione
Campania Antonio Bassolino. Il Premio Mediterraneo si divide in
varie sezioni: pace, cultura, istituzioni, diplomazia, informazione,
arte e creatività, cinema, scienze e ricerca, architettura,

Assembly of the Council of Europe, Rene van der Linden, has received
the Premio Mediterraneo Istituzioni 2007 for contributing with his
political activity to spreading the values of dialogue in the
Mediterranean area. Van der Linden, first as president of the group
of the European Peoplés Party and then as Chair of the Parliamentary
Assembly of the Council of Europe, has given a decisive impetus to
the Euro-Mediterranean policy, especially in the field of human
rights protection, democracy and gender equality, the Mediterraneo
Foundation, which established the award in 1997, said. Van der
Linden will receive the award tomorrow at a ceremony at the seat of
the Mediterraneo Foundation in Naples at 1730 local time. In the
past years, the Premio Mediterraneo Istituzioni has been awarded to
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyp Erdogan and the president of the
Region of Campania Antonio Bassolino. The Mediterraneo Award is
divided in various sections, including peace, culture, institutions,
