NAPOLIFILMFESTIVAL
Festival catalogue - 19 - 26 June2004 , text by Ludovico Brancaccio,
Napoli 2004 (it/en.) format 23x30 - pp. 210 ;
The festival, now reached its sixth year, is notable for the attention
it gives to themes and localities in the euromediterranean region.
The great vitality of the neapolitan cinema is also reaffirmed,
with its resourcefulness in unearthing new talent and giving space
to independent productions.
The competition sections and retrospectives offer Europe, Africa,
and the Middle East the chance to show their film wares in a fresh
and relevant context.
In a programme brimming with ideas, there is even space for a tribute
to the history of the italian cinema, dedicated to a familiy who
shone over three generations (Gino, Tonino e Valentina Cervi), and
a profile on Kurdish director Hiner Saleem, in the Window on the
Orient section.
