The Exhibition presents 120 original pictures signed by the
most important European photographers from 1850 to 1900. From
Gibraltar to Spain, France, Italy, Greece, Turkey to North
Africa, they enable us to have a virtual journey across the
Mediterranean basin, where several civilizations, such as
the Egyptian, Greek, Roman and Islamic ones, have had their
crossroad.
This initiative has been promoted by Archivio Fotografico
della Cineteca, Associazione Culturale Italo Francese, ASRI,
Fondazione Laboratorio Mediterraneo and Fondazione Italiana
per la Fotografia, which has got the merit of showing precious
pictures belonging to a private collection and drawing on
a few great themes related to the cultures that developed
in the Mediterranean area.
