In the Mediterranean area, the level of needs and the structural
constraints related to weather aridity have made the concept
of scarcity of water an actual problem. An answer to water
emergency is the integrated management of resources. The book
entitled “L’acqua nei paesi mediterranei”
(Water in Mediterranean Countries) is aimed at comparing a
variety of approaches, such as the geographic one focusing
on weather and geomorphologic

aspects and the fragility of Mediterranean
ecosystems, and the economic approach, which is very important
in order to understand the central role of the resources in
the development of Southern and Eastern Countries of the Mediterranean
area.
From the closing round table, entitled Role of cooperation
and investment opportunities , with the participation of exponents
from institutional and corporate world, emerged a steady will
to give operational contents to the discussed problems. The
President of the Mediterranean Laboratory Foundation, Michele
Capasso, took part in the Round Table delivering a speech.
