This volume contains lessons held by Predrag Matvejevic at the
prestigious Collège de France in March 1997. By doing
so, he imitates the models of “lessons-essay” by
Valere, Barthes and Foucault in Paris. Between sceneries and
borderlines, myths and ethimology, historical memories and considerations
on current issues, Matvejevic explores the relationship between
the Mediterranean and Europe. In particular, he defines the
role and responsibility of the Old Continent in the new geopolitical
scenery. On one side, the countries of the European Union, on
the other the emerging democracies(or «democratures»)
rising after the fall of the Wall. |
