MONDO «EX»
Predrag Matvejevic, Garzanti editore, Milano [1ª edizione italiana] 1996, f.to 13x21 – pp. 192 ISBN 88-11-59872-9

Our century seems to come to an end under the auspices of “Ex”, not only in regards to the Eastern Europe but also what was known as being the Ex-Sixty-eight upraises, the Ex-left which turned into a new right wing etc. Predrag Matvejevic is also an «ex», and for more than one reason.
The world of «ex» represents his laic religion, but his harsh critic never lacks comprehension and compassion. Be it lucidly analytical or highly lyrical, the book is a illuminating testimony of what is becoming the other Europe, a journey in the Mediterranean where “from East to West every point is division”. Finally it is also a message to Europe that risks to become an “Ex” even before coming into being.
