THE FORUM CIVILE EUROMED. OBJECTIVES AND MEANS FOR THE EURO-MEDITERRANEAN PARTNERSHIP. SESSION 8 EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EMPLOYMENT
ISTRUZIONE, FORMAZIONE, OCCUPAZIONE
Proceedings of the II International Meeting Forum Civile Euromed, Mostra d’Oltremare, Centro Congressi Mediterraneo. Naples, 12th – 13th - 14th December 1997. VV.AA. Edizioni Magma– FLM Napoli 1998 (It) Format 21 x 30 – pp 125 – ISBN 88 – 8127 – 090-0

The eighth session of the II Forum Civile Euromed, within the thematic area Values and Cultures as Resources, reaffirmed the principle of exchange among the Universities of the countries of the two Mediterranean shores. To implement this principle it is, first of all, necessary to extend as far as possible the co-direction of degree theses and doctorates as well as the harmonization of the courses of studies to reach mutual recognition of diplomas within the Euro- Mediterranean cooperation. It is also necessary to widen the study of foreign languages giving room to the non-European ones (such as the Arabic), which are not always adequately studied in the European schools, in order to integrate Euro-Mediterranean development perspectives. Another proposal is to carry out a Forum of Mediterranean young people to give space to that civil society which should not only be « institutional ». Among the proposed projects were : Mediterranean Spiritual Culture Centre ; Youth Labmed ; Astronomy and Mediterranean Environment.
