IRAQ: SGRENA; APPELLO FONDAZIONE LABORATORIO MEDITERRANEO

(ANSAMED) - NAPOLI, 11 FEB - I membri del Comitato Scientifico della Fondazione Laboratorio Mediterraneo, John Esposito, Predrag Matvejevic', Heba Raouf Ezzat, James Piscatori, Shafeeq Glabra, Walter Schwimmer, Michele Capasso, Caterina Arcidiacono, Claudio Azzolini, Nullo Minissi e Tariq Ramadan, hanno sottoscritto un appello per la liberazione di Giuliana Sgrena. Alla presenza di giornalisti dei Paesi euromediterranei il Comitato Scientifico della Fondazione Laboratorio Mediterraneo ha sostenuto, ratificato e diffuso l'appello del quotidiano Il manifesto in favore di Giuliana, perché i sequestratori non dimentichino di avere sottratto una giornalista che non ha mai chiuso gli occhi di fronte all'atroce realtà della guerra in Iraq. "Abbiamo pubblicamente assunto un impegno per la sua liberazione sia perché i giornalisti possano continuare a fare il loro lavoro liberamente anche in Iraq sia perché la democrazia e la democratizzazione siano processi che i popoli facciano propri senza interventi esterni", ha dichiarato Tariq Ramadan. John Esposito, Walter Schwimmer e Michele Capasso hanno sottolineato che di fronte alla sensazione di impotenza iniziale bisogna subito condannare senza alcuna condizione o distinzione ogni sequestro e specialmente quello dei giornalisti: "per riaffermare il principio della libertà d'informazione e la possibilità, sempre, di testimoniare la verità".(ANSAMED). At the presence of journalists from Euro-Mediterranean countries, the scientific committee of the Mediterranean Laboratory Foundation supported, ratified and publicized the appeal of the daily il manifesto in favour of Giuliana, so as to not make the kidnappers forget that they took as hostage a journalist who never closed her eyes on the terrible situation of the war in Iraq. "We publicly committed to her release so that journalists will be able to carry on working freely in Iraq and so that democracy and democratization will be processes of the people without external interventions", said Tariq Ramadan.
