A NETWORK FOR THE EURO-MEDITERRANEAN PARTNERSHIP
In times of internationalisation processes and market globalisation
it is more and more essential reasserting the importance of an
ethical principle of justice, solidarity and responsibility among
Countries and bodies.
Pursuing a policy of encounter between civilizations and starting
an actual meeting process are the steps which can and have to
be performed only by the full ownership and responsibility of
all partners. Therefore, the knowledge of the differences is the
tool aimed at identifying the assets and sharing points among
different cultural and social contexts.
So, if the first aim of the Maison de la Méditerranée
consists in pursuing a policy of dialogue between civilizations,
it also needs to start an active and concrete meeting process
in which knowing differences represents the instrument aimed at
identifying possible assets and sharing points.
Another aim consists in networking private and public structures
working as inter-institutional mediator in the involved countries,
and promoting synergies between social bodies and economic world;
The Maison de la Méditerranée
is characterized by the peculiarity, and I would like to say,
the challenge to work outside existing lobbies and parties. Its
primacy is the aggregation in a perspective of shared policies
and promotion of good practices of citizenship.
Sharing specific aims and respecting solidarity, democratic and
participation principles represent the guiding light of common
purposes, which are more than simple multiculturalism. It is a
social and joint action performed by public and private bodies
involved in the interaction between local and global processes,
working in order to overcome inequalities.
Justice, Solidarity, Democracy are the principles which can overcome
the extremisms threatening the civil society and they allow people
to work for human comprehension.
These are the social principles and values that have to dialogue
trying to identify any possible encounter opportunities, before
or maybe along with the creation of a free exchange area. Restricted
borders, intolerance and ignorance are the worst guides. Scholars,
women, men socially committed, institutions, bodies, local administrations
– networking through the Fondazione Mediterraneo
- are ready to spend their human and material resources for this
process. Human destiny is a shared good.
The Maison de la Méditerranée
is the meeting place for the Euro-Mediterranean network of institutions
and bodies aimed at strengthening the partnership process.
